The Sid - Crest hosted the Piedmont Panthers in the first round of the NCHSAA playoffs tonight in Boiling Springs. Crest was looking to move to the second round of the State playoff's, something they have done every year since 1991.

Crest won the toss and deferred its option to the second half. Piedmont took the opening kick-off and on its second place from scrimmage promptly fumbled the ball to Crest. The Chargers wasted no time getting on the board when Cameron Peeler hit Tyshun Odom from 42 yards out for a quick 7-0 lead. The play would turn sloppy from there. Piedmont did not have the talent Crest has, but they had heart and played with it.

Crest moved its lead to 10-0 as Evan Davis connected on a 38 yard field goal. Piedmont fumbled the ball to Crest on its next possession, and the Chargers made them pay, when QB Willie Green hit Odom on a 64 yard BOMB down the Crest sideline to move the score to 17-0, that would be the score at the break.

Crest took a 23 -0 lead in the third quarter when Tre Harbison plunged in from 4 yards out. Piedmont would finally get on the board after Willie Greens third interception of the night set the Panthers up deep in Crest territory. Piedmont broke the plain on 4th down to make the score 23-7 Crest.

Crest added a late Harbison TD to make the final Crest 30 - Piedmont 7. Crest will host a second round match up with either Erwin or Cuthbertson next Friday Night,
