Lincolnton- Lincolnton hosted Parkwood in the 2nd round of the 2A playoffs.  Parkwood won the coin toss and received the opening kickoff. Parkwood’s Donovan Harris broke through the line on a 58 yard run before being tackled at the 13.   On the next play Josh Coble threw a 13 yard touchdown pass to Max Robinson.   Parkwood’s extra point was no good.  Parkwood is up 6-0.   On Lincolnton’s first play from scrimmage Darin Roseboro fumbled and it was recovered by Parkwood.   Lincolnton’s defense came up big holding Parkwood.  Lincolnton then drove 69 yards in 11 plays with Tarus Dameron scoring on a 1 yard run. Lincolnton was up 7-6 with 5:10 left in the first quarter.  On Lincolnton’s next possession Jordon Easter scores on a 42 yard run on what look like a busted play.  Lincolnton took a 14-6 lead over Parkwood with 2:59 left in the 1st quarter.   Parkwood would then drive down and score on a 1 yard run by Coble cutting Lincolnton’s lead to 14-12 after a failed two point try.  Lincolnton then went on a 6:30 drive scoring on a 4 yard run by Darian Roseboro putting Lincolnton up 21-12 with 1:24 in the 2nd.   Parkwood would then try to get one more score before the half but Lincolnton’s defense held.   On that drive Lincolnton’s QB/DB Jordon Easter would get hurt and did not return to the game.

Lincolnton would then fumble on the opening drive of the 2nd half.  Parkwood  then returned the favor and  turned  it back over to the Lincolnton as Quinlyn Harris picks up a Coble fumble and returns it 40 yards for the a touchdown.  Making the score Lincolnton 28 Parkwood 12 with 6:29 left in 3rd.   Lincolnton would try a 23 yard field goal but missed the right.  Lincolnton wins  28-12 and move on to face county rival East Lincoln next Friday.

Boiling Springs - The Crest Chargers played host to the West Rowan Falcons at Sid Bryson Stadium in the second round of the NCHSAA playoffs. This game was a hard hitting affair, that was marred by penalty after penalty as the officials made sure everyone knew they were there.

Crest won the toss and deferred its option until the second half. Both teams traded punts in a lethargic 1st quarter that saw neither team find the end-zone. In the second quarter Shrine Bowl safety Dominique Roseboro picked off a West Rowan pass. Roseboro's interception set the school record and set up the offense on the Falcon 39 yard line. Crest drove down to the one, and running back Tre Harbison plunged in to give the Chargers a 7-0 lead. With a little over four minutes in the half, and after Crests Jordan Oates recovered a fumble, Harbison rolled 42 yards off tackle to give Crest a 14-0 lead. That would be the score at the break. The Crest defense did not allow a single first down in the first half of play.

The score would remain the same for the entirety of the 3rd quarter, which was marred by penalties. With 5 minutes to play in the game Harbison went 15 yards for the TD and Crest lead 21-0. The Charger defense forced a punt with 2:50 to play. Harbison scored his fourth TD of the night, this time from 68 yards out to give Crest a 28-0 lead. The Falcons finally got on the board against the Crest second unit with 1:18 to play. Making the final Crest 28 - West Rowan - 7

Crest 13-0 will play host to Forestview in the third round of the 3A playoffs next week.

Lincolnton-The Wolves keep rolling on a very cold night. Game time temperature was around 34 and dropped close to 28 by the end of the game.  The game started as if the cold weather would be factor.  On the first play of the game the Wolves fumbled and Newton recovered.  Newton returned the favor on their first play and fumbled the ball back to the Wolves.  At that point the Wolves rushing attack took over.  The Wolves drove the ball down to the three.  Then the Wolves then gave the ball to Darian Roseboro and he runs it in giving the Wolves a 7-0 lead.  Newton would then drive down to the two yard line. First and goal at the two the Wolves made four big defense plays pushing Newton back to the fifty where the Wolves take over on downs. The Wolves would then drive down  to the one and give the ball to Roseboro once again for a touchdown.  Wolves go up 14-0.   The Wolves would then add two more scores before the half.  Jordon Easter would score on a 24 yard run and Roseboro would score on a three yard run.  The Wolves took a 28-0 lead into halftime.   The Wolves added two more scores in the third. Roseboro scored on a three yard run and Easter on a 24 yard run by Easter. Boiling Springs. Crest rolled through South-West Randolph in the first round of the NCHSAA playoffs. Crest scored early and often. The Chargers took a quick 14-0 lead on a pair of Tre Harbison TD runs. The lead would swell to 21-0 as QB Willie Green scored on a 20 yard keeper

SWR, could not get any momentum going against the Crest defense. Crest took a 28-0 lead when Traquan Hopper took the jet sweep around right end for 30 yards. The Crest defense forced a 3 and out and forced a punt. Jordan Oates returned the punt 60 yards for a 35-0 lead with 8 minutes to go in the second quarter. Crest would score again just before half to make it 42-0 and start the running clock.

SWR, scored their only TD on the Crest reserves to pull within 35, but Crest would add a late score to make the final Crest 49 - SWR - 7.

It looks like Crest will play host to West Rowan in the second round.
