The Sid - The Crest Chargers came in 1-2 on the young season, and looking to get it going after a gut wrenching loss to rival Shelby last week. Things wouldn't get any easier this week as the Charger played host to another defending State Champion the Weddington Warriors.

The first half was played in an imaginary sludge, with turnover galore for the Chargers. Weddington took a 7-0 lead when QB Whinter Litner found a wide-open Chase Turner for 42 yards. From there Crest moved the ball between the 20's at will on the ground but fumbles would derail the Charger drives.

Crest QB Peyton Kimmerlin threw a 50 yard pass down the home sideline and Crest receiver Landon Zanders made a highlight reel catch to set Crest up at the 2, and Kemmerlin punched it in on the sneak 2 plays later and the game was tied 7 to 7.

Weddington took a 13-7 lead right before the half when Litner once gain connected with Turner from 20 yards out, the extra point was wide right.

In the second half Weddington made the score 19-7 with 4:47 to go in the 3rd quarter on another pass from Litner. Crest came roaring back and made it 19-14 when Kimmerlin bulled his way in from 22 yards out. With 6 minutes to go in the game Kimmerlin found Nijahi Odom on the pitch an catch from 24 yards out to make the score 20 - 19 after the two point conversion failed. The Crest defense shutdown the Weddington offense from there to preserve the win. Crest moved to 2 and 2 on the season.
